Jag hade ju som bekant inte alls tänkt att läsa dessa böcker. De har blivit så hårt kritiserade och upphaussade att det inte alls kändes intressant. (En av anledningarna till att jag ännu inte har läst Stieg Larsson btw.) Jag har inte direkt följt diskussionen kring trilogin, men många verkar tycka att den är dåligt skriven och att den visar en felaktig bild av kvinnor. Att Mr Grey utnyttjar, förödmjukar och låter Ana underkasta sig honom. Sedan såg jag E.L. James på Skavlan och började bli mer intresserad, hon var ju cool. Och så råkade jag slinka in på adlibris dagen efter och klicka hem hela trilogin på engelska.

Ja, jag hade ganska mycket förväntningar och fördomar innan jag började läsa. Och ja, nog hade jag nog förväntat mig mer sex. Visst det är sex. Mycket sex, het sex, men inte så mycket bdsm som jag befarat. Sedan tycker jag inte alls att det är Mr Grey, denna underbare trasige man, som för befälet, utan det är Ana som har makten. Allt som sker sker på hennes villkor inte hans. Det är den undergivna som sätter gränserna, den dominanta som tänjer dem, men i slutändan är det ändock den undergivna som för befälet.

Jag vill inte ge för många spoilers (eller gå händelserna i förväg), men det känns nytt att läsa en bok där faktiskt mannen är den som ändrar på sig mest. Ana inser mest att hon trots allt gillar "the kinky fuckery" mycket mer än hon kunde ana. Mr Grey öppnar en helt ny värld för henne, inte bara inom sexet utan även världen. Självklart är han otroligt dominant, kontrollerande och överbeskyddande, men Ana kan säga ifrån.

Jag måste erkänna att jag faktiskt gillar det. Det är lite pirrigt och "förbjudet" att läsa så uttalad erotisk litteratur. Men vi (ja många iaf) gör det ju. Just för att det är pirrigt. Jag läste boken på engelska och det jag kan störa mig på är att det blir många upprepningar, speciellt under sexakterna, till slut kan man liksom hela förloppet utantill. Jag har även svårt med böcker som är skrivna i presens. Varför vet jag inte, men så är det.

Jag har girigt slängt mig över del två Fifty Shades Darker och snart läst ut den. Laters, babes! ;)


I wasn't going to read these books. They have been critisised and worshiped too much for my taste. (one of the reasons to why I haven't read Stieg Larsson as of yet.) I haven't really followed the discussion regarding the trilogy, but it seems that most critics thinks it's poorly written and shows a wrongful picture of women. That Mr Grey uses, humiliates and makes Ana his submissive. Then I saw E.L. James on Skavlan and got more interested, she was so cool! And it just so happens that I happend to order the books the day after.

Yes, I had many expectations and prejudices before I started reading. And yes, I guess I had expected more sex. Sure, there is sex. Lots of sex, hot steamy sex, but not as much bdsm as I had anticipated. And no, I do not thing it's Mr Gray, this wonderful fucked up man, who is in charge, it's Ana who's got the power. Everything that happens is on her conditions, not his. It's the submissive who sets the boundairies, the dominant who stretches them (within reasonable limits of course), but in the end it's the submissive who is in charge.

I don't want to give away too much (or go ahead of the story), but this feels new. A book where it's not just the woman who makes sacrifices but it's the man who changes the most, to please his lady. Ana realises that she likes the "kinky fuckery" more than she thought. Mr Grey opens a whole new world for here, not just the sex, but everything else too. Like flying first class, gliding and music. Of course his overbearing, overprotective and controlling, but Ana knows when to put her foot down.

I have to admit I like it. It's a bit forbidden to read an erotic novel. But we all (well most of us) likes a bit of sex to spice things up, right? Just because it's a bit tabu. I read the book in English and one thing that bothers me is that it's kind of repetitive, especially during the sex, eventually you know it by heart. I also have some issues with novels written in the present. I don't know why, but I just do.

I'm currently devouring book two, Fifty Shades Darker and is soon finished. Laters, babes! ;)
