Finding Colin Firth - Mia March

Ännu en titel läst tack vare NetGalley. Ja, jag valde den helt klart för titeln. Baksidenstexten verkade även den lovande.

Den handlar om tre kvinnor i olika stadier i sitt liv och idén om Colin Firth, aka Mr. Right Darcy. Ett brev från sin döda mor tar Bea till Boothbay Harbor, Maine, där hennes biologiska mor finns. Hela hennes liv har vänts upp och ner sedan hon fick veta att hon var adopterad. Veronica, mamman, är själv i ett skede i livet där hon behöver ta tag i det förflutna för att kunna gå vidare i livet. Och så har vi den arbetslösa reporten Gemma som är gravid och inte helt nöjd över den situtaionen då hennes och makens drömmar och förhoppningar om framtiden plötsligt ser helt annorlunda ut. Till staden ryktas det även om att Colin Firth ska komma för att spela in sin nästa film.

Det är en mysig feel good bok, med ett djup och hopp om en ljusare framtid för dessa tre kvinnor. Det är inte en traditionell kärlekshistoria som man kan förvänta sig, utan mer en utvecklingsroman och viljan att hitta sig själv. Männen har fått en nedtonad roll i boken och den handlar mer om att hamna vid ett vägskäl i livet och vad vi väljer att göra av situationen vi befinner oss i. Helt klart läsvärd, även om det kanske inte var världsklass.


Another book read thanks to NetGalley. Yes, I did choose it because of the title. And the blurb sounded interesting too.

The book is about three women in different stages of life and the idea of Colin Firth, aka Mr. Right Darcy. A letter from her dead mother brings Bea to Boothbay Harbor, Main, where her until now unknown birth mother is. Her life is turned upside down after she learns that she is adopted by said letter. Veronica, her birth mother has just moved back to her childhood town and is in a place in life where she needs to deal with her past too move forward in life. And then we have the unemployed reporter Gemma who's just found out she's pregnant and is not too thrilled about it since she realises that her hopes and dreams are not the same as her husbands any more. And it is also rumoured that Colin Firth is going to film his next movie in said little town.

It is a quaint little feel-good book, but with depth and hope of a brighter future for these three women. It's not a  traditional love story as you would expect, but more of a personal development story and the hope of finding oneself. The men has gotten a down toned part of the book and it's about finding yourself at a crossroad in life and what we chose to do about the situation we are in.
